Curriculum

The Infant/Toddler and Two's Learn: We teach by using the Weekday Wee Learn Curriculum.  This is a program that stimulates gross and fine motor skills, receptive and expressive language, cognitive, self-help, and social/emotional music, nature and guidance/cooperation.

The Preschool - Kindergarten Program - is for children ages 3 - 5. Teachers use the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as a standard for lesson plan development within the following curriculum and structures:

  • Wee Learn Curriculum - This curriculum is activity based, provides choices, allows physical activity, encourages creative expression, biblically based and makes learning fun.
  • Music - In the PCC Music & Movement class students are exposed to a full range of musical expression. Students also learn basic music skills, practice to develop a Christmas program, and learn to enjoy and appreciate music.
  • Nature - Because children are very curious, science can be very exciting for the young child. Children love learning about the world around them. Sound, water and air will be explored through a series of books called, "The Wonder of God's World." The children will investigate the world of science through the use of two books, "The Usborne Science Experiments Beginning Science" and "The Essential Elements." There will be time spent learning nutrition, physical health, and dental care. Throughout the year conservation will be discussed. Hopefully, your child will learn and understand the phrase, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." Uppermost in the class will be the thought that we must care for the earth on which we live.
  • Developmental Milestones - From babies to Kindergarteners, teachers are aware of developmental milestones and plan specific activities to assist students in meeting those milestones.
  • Chapel - is a quiet time in the sanctuary on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am. Bible lessons are a reinforcement of the series of 12 character traits that coordinate with the music program. Children learn about God, reverence in church, and the importance of the Bible in everyday living.
  • Computer Lab -In the PCC computer lab, Kindergarteners practice reading and writing using the prgram "Read, Write, Type." PK3's and PK4's enjoy developmentally appropriate programs to aid alphabet acquisition, basic math skills, and fluency of manipulation of the computer.
  • Art - In addition to artistic expression in the classroom, PK and K students experience a variety of mediums attending a weekly art class.
  • Library - Children hear stories, enjoy puppet shows, etc. in a weekly library period. Additionally, older children are allowed to check out a library book each week to enjoy at home.
