Curriculum

The Infant/Toddler and Two's Learn: We teach by using the Weekday Wee Learn Curriculum.  This is a program that stimulates gross and fine motor skills, receptive and expressive language, cognitive, self-help, and social/emotional music, nature and guidance/cooperation.

The Preschool - Kindergarten Program - is for children ages 3 - 5 and specializes in:

·        Weekday Wee Learn Curriculum - This curriculum is activity based, provides choices, allows physical activity, encourages creative expression, biblically based and makes learning fun.

·        Music - The Orff and Kodaly approach is designed to give the children a full range of expression through music and to establish basic music skills; therefore making music becomes an enjoyable part of their lives. In addition, the Brite Music curriculum is introduced, teaching 12 character traits through song, puppet and story. PCC has a special music teacher who focuses only on the music classes.

·        Nature - Because children are very curious, science can be very exciting for the young child.  Children love learning about the world around them.  Sound, water and air will be explored through a series of books called, "The Wonder of God's World".  The children will investigate the world of science through the use of two books, "The Usborne Science Experiments Beginning Science" and "The Essential Elements".  There will be time spent learning nutrition, physical health, and dental care.  Throughout the year conservation will be discussed.  Hopefully, your child will learn and understand the phrase, "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle".  Uppermost in the class will be the thought that we must care for the earth on which we live.

·        Gross Motor Development - This class aids in the development of the large and small muscles of the body. It is a "mini gymnastics" class for ages 2 - Kindergarten. This class also introduces and encourages creative dance.

·        Chapel - is a quiet time in the sanctuary on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am. Bible lessons are a reinforcement of the series of 12 character traits that coordinate with the music program. Children learn about God, reverence in church, and the importance of the Bible in everyday living.

The Writing to Read Computer Lab - is an essential component of the Kindergarten curriculum. Developed by Dr. Henry Martin, this computer program is a landmark in early childhood literacy. Its simple yet comprehensive multi-sensory learning format introduces young children to the world of writing and reading involving them in the ways they learn best.
